Today's focus was to do a series of steep and challenging hills (as my Strava route is aptly named). And all of the mentioned hills were quite challenging when paired with the wind that was present today.

Synopsis of the Hills

Tac-Cawl Hill, is a great starter hill as it really solidifies you at it's peak of 15 degrees of gradient, forcing you to push early on - a great warm up.

Qala to Nadur, is one of my all time favourites, it's a constant 7 degree climb for about 3 to 4 minutes - a very calming and easy climb.

Ramla to Xaghra, it's only downfall is the road that leads to it - THERE'S NONE OF IT! Other than that, this hill is quite challenging. You are immediately started off at a gradient of 10 degrees and reaching a peak gradient of around 17 degrees. It also features nasty bends that will urge you to go in the middle of the road to climb. Though the hill's road is quite literally perfect. It takes about 3-5 minutes to climb but you'll be surrounded with pleasant views all the way up.

San Marzjan Hill, we've already talked about this one, it's the steepest hill I've attempted, peaking at 25 degrees of gradient and has one of the worst roads at the very end (the hardest bit).

Marsalforn to Zebbug, Ghajn Melel Hill, this is also a challenging hill as it's quite long, takes around 7 to 10 minutes to climb and it is also very steep, peaking at 18 degrees of gradient. Worst part about is the road, it is the definition of pot-hole, grip-less heaven!

Dwejra, this hill is quite the classic. It's a constant 10-14 degree climb all the way up, takes around 4 to 7 minutes to climb and has a lot of bends. It's always a ton of fun going up and down Dwejra (just don't look over the VERY 'large' AND SAFE SIDE WALLS).

** 1051m of Ascension **

My goal for today was to reach 1000m of Ascension without repeating the same hill too many times and I think I did a pretty good job at that!

Challenge yourself!
