The Usual Sunday

As always, it was an early morning for me..and as always, I slacked off being the last one that took off... Woke up at around 6:30am or so and setoff to join my cycling buddies on the quiet and perfectly weathered Gozitan roads.

Ta' Cenc

This Sunday's ride was...well like every other Sunday. Long, sunny, hilly and with a ton of laughter and some extremely enticing hills. The hill of the day ( very apt ) was Ta' Cenc. Surprisingly when one thinks of Ta' Cenc, almost immediately you'd envision the absolutely terrible road that it is set on. We did too. But that didn't deter us from going down! As the saying goes, there's always light at the end of the tunnel because once you get past that rocky and unpaved part of Ta' Cenc you are met with what can easily be regarded as the best 'cycling' road in Gozo. It is quite short and extremely dangerous/scary if you don't know where the bends are so proceed with caution the first time you go down.

Anyway, the road itself is very well paved but has no barriers - obviously, who needs those??? It has a couple of fun hairpin bends and the given breathtaking views that one associates Ta' Cenc with. When you decided to go back up, it's not that challenging. It is set on a gradient of around 6-8% at it's steepest and it's quite short so it'll be over before you want it to. Quite a fun road though!

Anyway, then we headed to...all over Gozo basically. Stopping at Marsalforn for a quick coffee & Kinnie (thanks Mike!) and then we ended the ride with some fast paced action on Qala Road.
