Journal - Ride 96, Breeze

Short Description About Today

  1. Hills n' Straights
  2. Tour of Malta

was the speed of the winds hitting our faces this morning. Not a good feeling at all whilst you're lapping Qala road for 3-4 times with no type of shelter from the winds! Thus now you can probably tell why this blog post is named 'Breeze' .

Today's (8th April) ride was fairly swift in pace, ending on an average speed of 23.8km/h but t'was more like 25km/h when you factor in the constant head winds. Anyway, the ride was obviously a mountain of fun and speaking of mountains, we rode down and up (obviously as what goes down, must come up) Dwejra. Hadn't been there for the past 2 weeks or so but this time me and Andre went down the road and it was his first time down Dwejra with a bike. So it goes without saying that it was quite brutal for him to climb it afterwards hehe... Nonetheless, Dwejra is always fun.

Then we went off to meet up with Brandon as he is contesting in the Tour of Malta as today's race was set in Gozo. Namely at Nadur, which saw the contestants having to climb up Nadur 12 times (near the Race Course Track / Horse Track), yes TWELVE (12 - XII) LAPS!! Which amounts to about 60km of Distance and almost 800-900m of elevation on badly maintained roads.

That was pretty much it for today.

Oh and we stopped for a cup o' coffee too!
